Photos and videos of a group of men rioting and causing havoc in front of a restaurant began circulating on social media last night. It showed several men throwing objects and shouting at the restaurant staff while bystanders stood around watching.
The story goes that 11 men showed up to the restaurant at 9:30 p.m., hoping to catch a late night snack. Unfortunately, current SOPs only allow eateries to open up till 10 p.m. and as such, the restaurant staff conveyed the message that they were no longer serving food.
However, it is believed that the group of men were unhappy that they were turned away by the restaurant, so they started harassing the restaurant staff. A scuffle then broke out between the two parties, but not long after, as seen in the videos above, they began throwing tables and chairs at not only the staff, but the eatery itself. Chaos ensued and havoc was wrecked around the restaurant in general.
Bystanders were quick to alert authorities, and as reported by Harian Metro, police have arrested 3 out of 11 individuals that were involved in the fight.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the three suspects were arrested through an operation at 1am.
Datuk Saiful also added that the authorities are tracking down the 8 other individuals involved for investigation according to Section 147 of the Penal Code, for rioting without weapons.
Thankfully, it seems that the restaurant staff were able to avoid any major injuries. Here’s a reminder to dine a little earlier if possible, and to not take your frustrations out on food service workers, or anyone for that matter!
